A week boarding school

La Neuville is a week boarding school.

Children come by train from paris every monday, and leave the school on Fridays.

Some words about the reason of working with a boarding school system, taken from a lecture given by the children at the Nanterre university...

FATEN - We could not realise all the projects we want to realise if it were not a boarding school. Our projects need full days.

JACQELINE - The work that we do here, it's a work during all the week.

HAMZA - You spend your week in the school, you sleep here, you're not at your parent's. That's what is the boarding school. You live your life as a social life.

MANUE (teacher) - I think that from the begenning of the school, Fabienne and Michel have not thought about something else thana boarding school, because they did not want a place to make only lessons. They wanted a place where people live. I agree with Jacqueline, It's a work begenning on Monday and ending on friday. It would not be possible to stop it every evening and start it again the day after.

SATURNIN (teacher) - Basically, the point is that at school you don't learn what you learn at home. And what you learn outside of the family, it's not just what you learn in the classroom ; you also learn in the evening, being with other children.
